We fully understand the need for professional and diligent enquires to be undertaken on the new nanny and to establish either covertly or overtly the correct and right demeanour for our client and the family of our client.
We hear and see so many issues in this industry. The pressure to rush a job or to place a candidate is so often more of an importance than actually checking the correct history and the current character of such an important role.
In the news lately we hear that “Spice Girl” Gerri Halliwell was recently forced to go through the ordeal of finding that her nanny had allegedly assaulted her child. We understand that some checks were in place but were they adequate?

We can also recall the BBC running stories on lack of due diligence in the industry. 50% of agencies are not vetting or not investigating to a professional standard. Some even claiming they have gone to great lengths for it to be complete fabrication.

We do understand that for many working parents who try to juggle their careers with a family, a nanny is not a luxury, but a necessity. However, the onus is on the parent to verify and trust the nanny, au pair or housekeeper and of course that has to be earned. We can and will, if required, go one step further and watch the behaviour of your carer, au pair or housekeeper, both outside and inside the home, or if you require provide you with the means of doing so.
This is obviously not a large percentage of nannies, but they are still out there. The worst thing to think is that it won’t happen to you. That is exactly why we run nanny checks and why the checks should be a requirement when looking to hire someone to take care of your children.
Don’t leave it to the agency unless you can see the checks they have made and ask them for a copy. Agencies out there use a professional investigation firm such as ours and do not rely on data for subjects checks. Never rely on what has been provided, always double check and always call yourself on the obtained numbers for the employer references and character references.
